Anyway, I'm back! Welcome to the revamped Stories in the Ordinary, the 2.0, the next generation, however you want to say it. I made the above banner myself. It's not perfect, but I can't keep going back and fixing it or I'll never move forward! So this is the new design. Thoughts?
This is still primarily a writing blog, and I'm going to continue some of the themed posts I started earlier, but I also want to sprinkle in a few posts that aren't specific to writing. Just observations and inspirations. Sometimes writers need to take off their "writer hats" and get their mind on something else. Also, sometimes I have blog visitors who aren't writers, and I imagine this blog can get boring fast.
Today's topic is simple. It's something I observed weeks ago. While driving in a heavy rain storm, I noticed a police car on the side of the road with a regular car parked in front of it. Outside the car, in the pouring rain, was a young woman with her wrists handcuffed behind her. All I could think of was how much it sucked for her to be arrested in such a storm.
Then, of course, I began making up why she was arrested. I'd like to think it wasn't her fault. She was fleeing from her bad-news boyfriend, who was a drug user, and in her hurry to get away, she was speeding. The police pulled her over and found her boyfriend's drugs in the back seat.
Of course I totally made that up, but I'll never know the truth.
Whether you're a writer or just a people-watcher, have you ever tried to fill in the blanks when observing strangers? Why do you think the young woman was arrested?
