Status Report: December 1

I think it's time for another status report, since my last one was on July 2, and a lot has changed since then.

So, what's new with me, you ask? (Or at least I pretend you ask, so I have a reason not to appear selfish posting about myself.)

In the writing world, I have two projects that I'm working on right now. My latest completed manuscript, The Queen of Camp Respecto has been through revision after revision, sent to numerous readers, and (in my opinion) is close to polished. I plan to give it one more read-through the week after Christmas, and then in January I will start my agent research and *gasp* querying.

I'm also kicking butt in my WIP, Out Of Hand. October and November were crazy busy, and I wasn't able to write for long stretches of time. Starting today, I'm making sure that I buckle down and write for at least an hour. I'm timing myself and recording my hours on a calendar. Talk about pressure.

But I tried it today, and it worked! I wrote almost an entire chapter, which is a big deal to me.

In the reading realm, I finally found the time over my Thanksgiving break to catch up on some fantastic reads. Most recently, I read Paradise 21 by Aubrie Dionne. Aubrie's characters are so charming, even the bad ones (and I almost want to say especially the bad ones -- I love villains), and her story was able to make me cry -- which is always a plus. I didn't participate in NaNo, but I cheered on those who bravely did. Congrats to y'all!

What are you writing, reading, or editing? Did you participate in NaNo? Do you use timers or calendars or any kind of pressure tactic to get yourself to write?
